SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of John W. Drasler of Waukegan, who passed
4away on April 22, 2014; and
 
5    WHEREAS, John Drasler was raised in Waukegan and was a
6life-long resident; he served 2 tours of duty in the Korean
7Conflict as a United States Army reconnaissance armored
8personnel operator; and
 
9    WHEREAS, John Drasler began working as an architect at the
10firm of Extrand Shad and West in Waukegan; he then worked for
11Freedman and Associates in Chicago, Ottis and Associates in
12Northbrook, and, in retirement, provided consultation for Ruck
13Pate Associates; most recently, he was a Ranger and a Keep Pace
14person at Pine Meadow Golf Course; and
 
15    WHEREAS, John Drasler was a member of the Waukegan South
16Side Club; for 9 years he served on the Waukegan Township Board
17of Education and was a member of the board of directors of
18North Shore Trust and Savings and Mother of God Parish; he was
19a proud member of the Knights of Columbus; and
 
20    WHEREAS, John Drasler enjoyed creating beautiful stained
21glass designs; and

1    WHEREAS, John Drasler was preceded in death by his parents,
2Gasper and Helen (nee Kirn) Drasler; brother, Tom and
3sister-in-law, Marie; brother, Don and sister-in-law, Susan;
4and his in-laws, William and Ann Thomas; and
 
5    WHEREAS, John Drasler is survived by his wife of 64 years,
6Pat (nee Thomas); children, Greg (Nancy Davidson) Drasler,
7Cindy Drasler, Cari (John) Vujovich, Connie (Dave) Walbran; and
8grandchildren, Alexandra, Peter, Emily, Katelyn, Michael, and
9Adison; therefore, be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
11ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
12John W. Drasler, and extend our sincere condolences to his
13family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
14further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to the family of John Drasler as an expression of our
17deepest sympathy.
