SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Rickie D. Grashoff of East Peoria, who passed away on June 18, 2014; and

WHEREAS, Rickie Grashoff was born on May 29, 1949 in Pekin; his parents were Walter and Elvira (nee Neisman) Grashoff; he married Glenda Sue Bomer on March 13, 2001 in Pekin; and

WHEREAS, Rickie Grashoff served his country as a member of the United States Navy; and

WHEREAS, Rickie Grashoff worked for D.J. Mahoney Construction until 1986; he then worked for the Illinois Department of Transportation until 2012, when he retired after 26 years of service; he was working as a Tazewell County Bailiff at the time of his passing; and

WHEREAS, Rickie Grashoff was a member of the Twin Oaks Missionary Baptist Church in East Peoria, Teamsters Local #623, and the Republican Party, and he was President of the Teamsters Retirement Group; he was named Tazewell County Republican of the Year in 2009; and

WHEREAS, Rickie Grashoff was a fan of all sports, but especially the St. Louis Cardinals; he also enjoyed playing baseball, softball, golfing, and bowling; and

WHEREAS, Rickie Grashoff was preceded in death by his parents; and

WHEREAS, Rickie Grashoff is survived by his wife, Glenda; 2 sons, Mike Grashoff and Joshua Grashoff; 2 daughters, Jessica (Curtis) Beiersdorf and Shellie (Jeremy) Benson; 6 grandchildren, Eric and Madison Grashoff, Xander Beiersdorf, and Jeremiah, Luke, and Matthew Benson; a great-granddaughter, Leah Grashoff: 2 brothers, Joe (Mary) Shallenberger and Ronnie (Rita) Grashoff; and a sister, Pat (Jake) Sturm; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his family and friends, mourn the passing of Rickie D. Grashoff; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Rickie Grashoff as an expression of our sympathy.
