SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Jack Roeser of Barrington, who passed
4away on June 13, 2014; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Jack Roeser was born in Chicago in 1923 to Irene
6and Otto Roeser; as a young boy he designed free flight
7airplanes, winning national championships, which inspired him
8to later become an engineer; in 1942, Jack Roeser enlisted in
9the United States Army, serving as a Combat Engineer in the
10Philippines, and was among the first soldiers to enter Japan
11after its surrender in World War II; and
 
12    WHEREAS, After returning from the war, Jack Roeser enrolled
13at the University of Illinois where he received a Mechanical
14Engineering degree; he later successfully founded 3 companies;
15the most recent OTTO Engineering in Carpentersville, which
16began in his basement and has grown to over 500 employees; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Jack Roeser was an advocate for conservative
18causes and active in Illinois Republican politics; in 1994, he
19ran for the Republican nomination for Governor of Illinois, and
20continued to further his political ideas through his political
21action committees, El Suenyo, The Family Taxpayer's Network,
22and Champion News; and

1    WHEREAS, Jack Roeser was a strong advocate for change in
2the public school system, seeking ways to provide the best
3possible education for future generations; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Jack Roeser said of his life that he lived the
5"American Dream"; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Jack Roeser was preceded in death by his parents;
7his sisters, Eileen and Ethel; and his brothers, Bob and
8Howard; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Jack Roeser is survived by his wife, Jeannine; his
103 sons, Ron (Sue), Tom (Bette), and Otto (Min); his daughter,
11Jean (Rob) Runnfeldt; and several grandchildren; therefore, be
12it
 
13    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
14ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
15Jack Roeser, and we extend our sincere condolences to his
16family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
17further
 
18    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19presented to the family of Jack Roeser as an expression of our
20deepest sympathy.
