SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Leo Koncan of North Chicago, who passed away on May 29, 2014; and

WHEREAS, Leo Koncan was born in North Chicago on April 5, 1931 to John and Frances Koncan; he was a 4-year veteran of the Korean War, serving on the USS Saipan; he married Lorraine Kopier on August 22, 1953; and

WHEREAS, Leo Koncan retired as a fireman/paramedic after 31 years with the North Chicago Fire Department; and

WHEREAS, Leo Koncan was preceded in death by his brothers, John (Julia) Koncan and Bill Koncan; sisters, Sylvia (John) Zaugra and Phyllis (Joe) Foltz; and brothers-in-law, Vince Zaker, Glenn Stevens, and George Rumpza; and

WHEREAS, Leo Koncan is survived by his wife of 60 years, Lorraine; his daughters, Karen (Pete) DePerte, Janice (Brian) Bell, and Beth Campion (loving friend Andy Runyard); grandchildren, Vito DePerte, Adrienne (Mark) Mulvaney, Kendra Harris (fiance Ivan Rios), and Lia Campion (fiance Hunter Beesch); his great-grandchildren, Shayla and Brianna Mulvaney, who called him 'Old Papa'; his brother, Tom (Lois) Koncan; sister, Loretta Zaker; sisters-in-law, Bea Koncan, Barb Rumpza, and Dorothy (Roger) Cvik; and a host of loving nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Leo Koncan, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Leo Koncan as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
