SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Raymond E. Powers of Gurnee, who passed away on June 10, 2014; and

WHEREAS, Raymond Powers was born on December 20, 1934 in Waukegan, and lived there until 2004 when he moved to Gurnee; and

WHEREAS, Raymond Powers retired from the Komatsu-Dresser Corporation after 38 years of service; and

WHEREAS, Raymond Powers was an avid card player, loved the outdoors at his cottage in Wisconsin, and avoided the cold weather in Illinois by spending winters in Florida; he was a member and former President of the North Chicago Lions Club, and played in Shea's Drum and Bugle Corps; and

WHEREAS, Raymond Powers was preceded in death by his son, Donald; parents, James and Elise; sisters, Virginia Ojala and Fern Christensen; and one brother, James; and

WHEREAS, Raymond Powers is survived by his wife of 61 years, Ann (nee Unrein) Powers; children, Leslie (Cecellia) Powers, Patricia (Guy) Lolmaugh, Ronald (Cynthia) Powers, and Lori (Jeffery) Stein; 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Raymond E. Powers, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Raymond Powers as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
