SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Raymond E. Powers of Gurnee, who passed
4away on June 10, 2014; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Raymond Powers was born on December 20, 1934 in
6Waukegan, and lived there until 2004 when he moved to Gurnee;
7and
 
8    WHEREAS, Raymond Powers retired from the Komatsu-Dresser
9Corporation after 38 years of service; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Raymond Powers was an avid card player, loved the
11outdoors at his cottage in Wisconsin, and avoided the cold
12weather in Illinois by spending winters in Florida; he was a
13member and former President of the North Chicago Lions Club,
14and played in Shea's Drum and Bugle Corps; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Raymond Powers was preceded in death by his son,
16Donald; parents, James and Elise; sisters, Virginia Ojala and
17Fern Christensen; and one brother, James; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Raymond Powers is survived by his wife of 61
19years, Ann (nee Unrein) Powers; children, Leslie (Cecellia)
20Powers, Patricia (Guy) Lolmaugh, Ronald (Cynthia) Powers, and

1Lori (Jeffery) Stein; 13 grandchildren; 12
2great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews; therefore,
3be it
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
5ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
6Raymond E. Powers, and extend our sincere condolences to his
7family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
8further
 
9    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
10presented to the family of Raymond Powers as an expression of
11our deepest sympathy.
