SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Raymond R. Suste, who passed away on October 20, 2014; and

WHEREAS, Raymond Suste was born in Joliet and was a lifetime resident; his parents were Mary (nee Knezetich) and George Suste; and

WHEREAS, Raymond Suste served as a Staff Sergeant with the United States Army in Battalion F, 3rd Infantry Division in the Battle of the Bulge during World War II; and

WHEREAS, Raymond Suste retired from the United States Steel Corporation after 38 1/2 years of service; and

WHEREAS, Raymond Suste was a member and past president of the St. Mary Nativity Catholic Church Senior Club (formerly the Joannites) and a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Cantigny Post #367; and

WHEREAS, Raymond Suste was an avid bowler; he also loved being in the sun, yard work, gardening, and fishing; and

WHEREAS, Raymond Suste was preceded in death by his wife, Ann (nee Macko); his parents; 5 siblings, Lucille (the late Robert) Nasenbenny, Delores (the late Charles) Traven, Lorraine "Lori" (the late James) Maccono, John (the late Ann) Suste, and Joseph (the late Agnes) Suste; and a sister-in-law, Delores Suste; and

WHEREAS, Raymond Suste is survived by 7 children, Paula (James) Paris, Jeri (Denny) Moore, Ray Suste, Jr., Judy (Perry) Olin, Tim (Mary) Suste, Tom Suste, and Maribeth Suste-Williams; 11 grandchildren, Andrew (Kim) Flynn, Hayley, Aaron (Christine), Jason, Justin Olin, Nina (Matt) Bartels, Nolan Suste, Brandon (Christina) Suste, Torean Suste, Erica Kenney, and Scott Southcomb; and 4 great-grandchildren, Daviante, Gianna, Logan, and Julian; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his family and friends, mourn the passing of Raymond R. Suste; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Raymond Suste as an expression of our sympathy.
