SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Ruth (nee Kelley) Bertels of Oak Park, who passed away on May 31, 2014; and

WHEREAS, During her teaching career, Ruth Bertels taught every grade in grammar school as well as high school; and

WHEREAS, Ruth Bertels was a member of St. Edmund Parish in Oak Park; she had her own webpage and wrote a weekly column, "Take Five", as well as a column for the Archdiocesan newspaper in Wisconsin; and

WHEREAS, Ruth Bertels was preceded in death by Mary Kelley, Kitty Price, and Tim Kelley; and

WHEREAS, Ruth Bertels is survived by her sister, Fran Roach; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Ruth Bertels, and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Ruth Bertels as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
