SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Marilyn Jean Shineflug, who passed away on November 17, 2014; and

WHEREAS, Marilyn Shineflug was born in Evanston on April 24, 1943 to Thane and Rebecca (nee Hammitt) Swartz; and

WHEREAS, Marilyn Shineflug was a Trustee for the Village of Antioch from 1989 to 1993; she became Mayor in 1993 and served until 2001; and

WHEREAS, Marilyn Shineflug was an active environmentalist, working tirelessly for the well-being of her community; and

WHEREAS, Marilyn Shineflug was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Wesley Swartz; and

WHEREAS, Marilyn Shineflug is survived by her 2 daughters, Karen (John) Moore and Joanne (Jeffrey) Harrison; her 4 grandchildren, Nicholas, David, Marinda, and Wesley; her brother, Douglas Swartz; her sister-in-law, Mary Ann Rodgers; and her former husband, Robert Shineflug; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Marilyn Jean Shineflug, and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Marilyn Shineflug as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
