SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Stephen E. Walter of Grayslake, who passed away on April 14, 2013; and

WHEREAS, Stephen Walter achieved the Bronze Tablet from the University of Illinois and was a graduate of Northwestern University School of Law; and

WHEREAS, Stephen Walter served as a public defender in Lake County; he had a private practice before becoming a judge in 1985, where he served until his retirement in 2006; after retirement, he practiced law as a part-time mediator and arbitrator and enjoyed spending time with his family; and

WHEREAS, Stephen Walter was a member of the Illinois State Bar Association; and

WHEREAS, Stephen Walter loved sports and was a diehard Chicago White Sox fan; and

WHEREAS, Stephen Walter is survived by his loving wife, Claudia; his children, Matthew (fiancee, Caroline) Walter, Mia Walter, John Walter, and Sarah Walter; his sister, Linda Olen; and his canine companions, Spencer and Missy; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Stephen E. Walter; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Stephen Walter as an expression of our sympathy.
