SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Kevin William Sanders, native of Palos Hills and former Plainfield resident, who passed away on April 17, 2013; and

WHEREAS, Kevin Sanders was born outside Chicago on October 13, 1979, to Duane and Sandra Sanders; he grew up in Palos Hills and graduated from Marist High School in 1997; he graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2001 with a bachelor's degree in animal science and from Parkland College in 2003 with a veterinary technician certification; and

WHEREAS, Kevin Sanders held several registered veterinary technician positions in Champaign; Plainfield; Fort Wayne, Indiana; Waco, Texas; and Hewitt, Texas; he taught at Fox College in Tinley Park and McLennan Community College in Waco, Texas; he worked with the Plainfield Emergency Management Agency for 5 years before moving to Texas and beginning work with the Bruceville-Eddy Volunteer Fire Department; he had recently passed the emergency medical technician skills test; and

WHEREAS, Kevin Sanders was among the first responders killed in an explosion at a West, Texas, fertilizer plant after they answered the call to battle a fire; and

WHEREAS, Kevin Sanders loved caring for animals, working on cars, listening to music and attending concerts, watching the Chicago Bears and Fighting Illini, playing paintball, and spending time with his family; and

WHEREAS, Kevin Sanders was preceded in death by his father; and

WHEREAS, Kevin Sanders is survived by his wife, Sarah Sanders; his son, Reeve Sanders; his mother, Sandra Sanders; his maternal grandmother, Eleanore Frey; his sister, Jeanette (Tim) White; his brother, Scott (Allison Muscolino) Sanders; and many friends and extended family; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Kevin Sanders, honor the sacrifice he made while rendering aid to others, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Kevin Sanders as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
