SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Don Stankoven, who passed away on April 13, 2013; and

WHEREAS, Don Stankoven was born on February 21, 1942; and

WHEREAS, Don Stankoven served as the Macoupin County Circuit Clerk from 1984 to 1996; he also served as the Dorchester Township Supervisor from 1965 to 1973 and from 1977 to 2013; and

WHEREAS, Don Stankoven served as a Macoupin County Democrat Precinct Committeeman for 40 years and served on the Macoupin County Board from 1968 to 1974; and

WHEREAS, Don Stankoven was instrumental in the discovery and publishing of the longest handwritten legal document by Abraham Lincoln, which totaled 43 pages in length; and

WHEREAS, Don Stankoven was a member of Croatian Fraternal Union Lodge #217 of Benld; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Don Stankoven; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Don Stankoven as an expression of our sympathy.
