SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of James A. Burton Jr. of Springfield, who
4passed away on May 11, 2013; and
 
5    WHEREAS, James Burton Jr. was born on June 17, 1941, in
6Springfield; his parents were James A. Burton Sr. and Eurlene
7Jackson; he was married to Cheryl N. Burton for many years; and
 
8    WHEREAS, James Burton Jr. served his country with pride as
9a member of the United States Navy from 1959 to 1965; and
 
10    WHEREAS, James Burton Jr. was the owner of the "Mr.
11Burton's" clothing store and several record stores; he also
12sold cars at Charlie Satler's for many years; and
 
13    WHEREAS, James Burton Jr. attended St. John A.M.E. Church;
14he was also an active member of American Legion Post #809,
15where he served as a Past 1st and 2nd Vice Commander; and
 
16    WHEREAS, James Burton Jr. was preceded in death by his
17parents and his sister, Edna Mae Anderson; and
 
18    WHEREAS, James Burton Jr. is survived by his sons, Richard
19Burton and Shane Burton (Felicia); his daughters, Alice Hicks

1(Gary), Marsha Gray (Robert), and Carla Burton; his 14
2grandchildren; his 11 great-grandchildren; and his many
3nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; therefore, be it
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
5ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
6his family and friends, the passing of James A. Burton Jr.; and
7be it further
 
8    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
9presented to the family of James Burton Jr. as an expression of
10our sympathy.
