SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Regina Meriweather Haynes, who passed away on May 11, 2013; and

WHEREAS, Regina Haynes was born on May 17, 1960, in Chicago; her parents were Mae Etta and Milton Talbert Kelly; she married Alexis Meriweather and they had 2 children together; she later married Rev. Patrick Haynes in 2005; and

WHEREAS, Regina Haynes graduated from Avalon Park Elementary School and Jones Commercial High School; she subsequently took business courses at Loop Junior College (now Harold Washington College); and

WHEREAS, Regina Haynes found Christ at an early age and was a member of Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church; she was also a member of the choir and the missionary board at Gospel Truth Missionary Baptist Church; and

WHEREAS, Regina Haynes emphasized the importance of education to her children; she served as president of Avalon Park Elementary School's local school council for over two terms; and

WHEREAS, Regina Haynes is survived by her husband, Patrick; her children, Monica, Monique, and Isaiah; her siblings, Bonita and Gerald; her uncles, Wardell (Barbara) and Dell (Marie); her cousin, Desmond (Teresa); and her many other family members and friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with her family and friends, the passing of Regina Meriweather Haynes; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Regina Haynes as an expression of our sympathy.
