SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Virginia Anne "Ginger" Ross of East
4Peoria, who passed away on May 24, 2013; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Virginia Ross was born on May 29, 1942, in Pinson,
6Tennessee, to Carmon "CB" and Martha Ludell Ross Holmes; she
7graduated from Eureka College, where she was a member of Delta
8Zeta Sorority and is a current member of their alumni
9association; she married Gregory James Ross on February 21,
101970, in Peoria; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Virginia Ross worked as a service representative
12for the Social Security Administration for nearly 30 years in
13Peoria, Pekin, and Joliet, retiring in 2004; she also worked as
14a grade school teacher at Roanoke-Benson Grade School and as an
15activity therapist at Peoria State Hospital; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Virginia Ross was a University of Illinois
17Extension Master Gardener, a member of the Tazwell County
18Master Gardeners, and a member of the City of East Peoria
19"Green Team"; she was an activist and always doing for others
20and spending countless hours volunteering for various
21organizations; and

1    WHEREAS, Virginia Ross was preceded in death by her
2parents; her brother, Alford "Alfie" Holmes; her sister, Sandra
3L. Brooks; and her former husband and friend, Gregory; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Virginia Ross is survived by her daughters, Mariah
5(Ron) Schultz, Kristin (Eric) Lambert, and Andria (Scott) Ross
6Redpath; her grandchildren, Ethan Lambert and Catherine
7Redpath; her step-grandchildren, Matt and Lauren Schultz; her
8brothers, Ross (Jean) Holmes and Rayford Holmes; and several
9nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
11ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
12Virginia Ross, and extend our sincere condolences to her
13family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
14further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to the family of Virginia Ross as an expression of
17our deepest sympathy.
