SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Stephen F. Lakin of Rosewood Heights, who passed away on June 21, 2013; and

WHEREAS, Stephen Lakin was born in Alton on August 2, 1941, to Robert R. and Francis E. (Phoenix) Lakin; he served in the United States Navy; he married Adele Raya on July 3, 1989, in Granite City; and

WHEREAS, Stephen Lakin owned Lakin Home Improvement; he was a retired police officer for the City of Wood River and a member of the Madison County Police Association and life-member of the Illinois Police Association and the Illinois Police Benevolent Association; he was a former President and Officer of the Wood River Lions Club, Wood River Moose Lodge No. 1349, and a Migratory Water Fowel member; and

WHEREAS, Stephen Lakin was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter, Teri Moore; and

WHEREAS, Stephen Lakin is survived by his wife; his daughter, Stephanie (Rick) Gentner; his son, Henry (Kris) Mendoza; his grandchildren, Theron Orr, Lakin Gentner, Garrett Gentner, Alyssa Mendoza, Bryce Gentner, and Isabel Mendoza; his brother, Phillip Lakin; his sister, Nancy (Loren) Weishaupt; and many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Stephen F. Lakin, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Stephen Lakin as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
