SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of William Issac Griffin of Mundelein, who passed away on July 23, 2013; and

WHEREAS, William Griffin was born on December 11, 1928 in Ardmore, Oklahoma; he married Bernice King on September 8, 1961 in Newport, Rhode Island; and

WHEREAS, In 1946, William Griffin joined the United States Navy, where he proudly served until his honorable discharge in 1967; and

WHEREAS, After his discharge from the Navy, William Griffin worked at Pepsi-Cola until his retirement in 1995; and

WHEREAS, William Griffin was an avid amateur radio operator; he enjoyed making and listening to bluegrass music and spending time with his family; and

WHEREAS, William Griffin is preceded in death by his sons, Matthew and Joseph; and

WHEREAS, William Griffin is survived by his wife of 52 years, Bernice; his sons, Bernie (Eileen), Bill, Jr., Charlie, Jimmy (Lori), and Mark (Maria); his daughter, Edith; his 10 grandchildren; and his 5 great-grandchildren; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his family and friends, mourn the passing of William Issac Griffin; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of William Griffin as an expression of our sympathy.
