SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Glenn Albert Bottrell of Sherman, who passed away on September 11, 2013; and

WHEREAS, Glenn Bottrell was born on January 3, 1929; his parents were Howard and Lucille Rice Bottrell; he married Mary "Terry" Freymuth on January 17, 1953; and

WHEREAS, Glenn Bottrell was a graduate of Illiopolis High School; he served his country as a member of the United States Armed Forces during the Korean War; and

WHEREAS, Glenn Bottrell worked as a farmer his entire life in the Lanesville and Elkhart areas; he was also a licensed realtor; and

WHEREAS, Glenn Bottrell was a 4-H leader in the Lanesville area and received the Sangamon County Outstanding Young Farmer Award in 1957; he served on the Logan County Farm Bureau Board for 9 years; he initiated the first tractor pull in Logan County and served as Superintendent of the Logan County Fair Tractor Pull for many years; he also brought the first 4-wheel drive tractor to Central Illinois in 1969; and

WHEREAS, Glenn Bottrell was a DEKALB Seed Corn Dealer; he was a member of Elkhart American Legion Post #616, the Lincoln Elks Club, and the Elkhart Homecoming Board and an honorary life member of Lincoln Knights of Columbus #1250; he also served as an usher at St. Patrick's Parish in Elkhart; and

WHEREAS, Glenn Bottrell was preceded in death by his parents and his brother-in-law, Allan; and

WHEREAS, Glenn Bottrell is survived by his wife of 60 years, Terry; his son, Paul (Lori); his daughters, Janet (Jerry) Klockenga, Kathy (Rick) Kaesebier, and Patti Davis; his sister, Lois Bottrell Bennett; his 10 grandchildren; his 8 great-grandchildren; and his great-great-grandchild; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his family and friends, mourn the passing of Glenn Albert Bottrell; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Glenn Bottrell as an expression of our sympathy.
