SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Glenn Albert Bottrell of Sherman, who
4passed away on September 11, 2013; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Glenn Bottrell was born on January 3, 1929; his
6parents were Howard and Lucille Rice Bottrell; he married Mary
7"Terry" Freymuth on January 17, 1953; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Glenn Bottrell was a graduate of Illiopolis High
9School; he served his country as a member of the United States
10Armed Forces during the Korean War; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Glenn Bottrell worked as a farmer his entire life
12in the Lanesville and Elkhart areas; he was also a licensed
13realtor; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Glenn Bottrell was a 4-H leader in the Lanesville
15area and received the Sangamon County Outstanding Young Farmer
16Award in 1957; he served on the Logan County Farm Bureau Board
17for 9 years; he initiated the first tractor pull in Logan
18County and served as Superintendent of the Logan County Fair
19Tractor Pull for many years; he also brought the first 4-wheel
20drive tractor to Central Illinois in 1969; and

1    WHEREAS, Glenn Bottrell was a DEKALB Seed Corn Dealer; he
2was a member of Elkhart American Legion Post #616, the Lincoln
3Elks Club, and the Elkhart Homecoming Board and an honorary
4life member of Lincoln Knights of Columbus #1250; he also
5served as an usher at St. Patrick's Parish in Elkhart; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Glenn Bottrell was preceded in death by his
7parents and his brother-in-law, Allan; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Glenn Bottrell is survived by his wife of 60
9years, Terry; his son, Paul (Lori); his daughters, Janet
10(Jerry) Klockenga, Kathy (Rick) Kaesebier, and Patti Davis; his
11sister, Lois Bottrell Bennett; his 10 grandchildren; his 8
12great-grandchildren; and his great-great-grandchild;
13therefore, be it
 
14    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
15ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his
16family and friends, mourn the passing of Glenn Albert Bottrell;
17and be it further
 
18    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19presented to the family of Glenn Bottrell as an expression of
20our sympathy.
