SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Berniece M. Edwards of Springfield, who passed away on January 26, 2013; and

WHEREAS, Berniece Edwards was born on May 9, 1926, in Springfield; her parents were George and Jessie (Collins) Hashman; she was a lifetime resident of Springfield; and

WHEREAS, Berniece Edwards retired as an LPN, pediatric nurse after many years of dedicated service; and

WHEREAS, Berniece Edwards was a member of West Side Christian Church in Springfield; and

WHEREAS, Berniece Edwards was an avid fan of politics and the Chicago Cubs; and

WHEREAS, Berniece Edwards was preceded in death by her husband, Francis Edwards; her parents; and her sister, Lila Shipman; and

WHEREAS, Berniece Edwards is survived by her children, Judy (Mel) Rich and Frank (Cinda) Edwards; her grandchildren, Nancianne (Mark) Knipfer, Sheri (Doug) Iwanicki, and Alex Edwards; her great-grandchildren, Julia and Abby Knipfer and Madi and Gabriel Iwanicki; her brothers, George (Agnes) Hashman and Kenny "Hash" Hashman; and her many nieces, nephews, cousins, great-nieces, and great-nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with her family and friends, the passing of Berniece M. Edwards; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Berniece Edwards as an expression of our sympathy.
