SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Warren R. Watkins, who passed away on
4September 7, 2013; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Warren Watkins was born on December 31, 1944 in
6Peoria; his parents were Russell and Marian (Richart) Watkins;
7he was a lifelong resident of Peoria; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Warren Watkins graduated from Richwoods Community
9High School in 1962; he then attended Bradley University, where
10he joined the Sigma Chi fraternity and served as Rush Chairman
11and Song Chairman; he subsequently graduated from Parsons
12College; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Warren Watkins served his country as a member of
14the Illinois Army National Guard and achieved the rank of
15Sergeant; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Warren Watkins was the owner and operator of
17Illinois Valley Glass and Mirror, Inc., a business started by
18his father in 1951; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Warren Watkins was a member of the First Federated
20Church, the Country Club of Peoria, the IVY Club, the Creve

1Coeur Club, the Sigma Chi Alumni Association, and the Peoria
2Housing Authority Board; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Warren Watkins and his wife enjoyed their second
4home and friends in the Northwoods of Wisconsin at Presque
5Isle; he also enjoyed music, the arts, the outdoors, boating,
6fishing, and hunting; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Warren Watkins was preceded in death by his
8parents and his nephew; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Warren Watkins is survived by his wife, Mary Allen
10Watkins; his daughter, Melinda; his sister, Cheryl Sullivan;
11and his many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
13ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his
14family and friends, mourn the passing of Warren R. Watkins; and
15be it further
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17presented to the family of Warren Watkins as an expression of
18our sympathy.
