2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of William D. Greek of Henry, who passed
4away on September 21, 2013; and
5    WHEREAS, William Greek was born on August 17, 1939 in
6Princeton to William C. and Ardis Drake Greek; he served his
7country in the United States Army; he married Nan J. Trovero on
8January 1, 1983; and
9    WHEREAS, William Greek was involved in farming and
10agri-business all of his life and served as a volunteer
11firefighter in the Henry Fire Protection District for over 30
12years; and
13    WHEREAS, William Greek was a former school board member,
14Chairman of the Marshall-Putnam unit of the American Cancer
15Society, a member of Henry American Legion Post #323, a board
16member of the Henry Community Food Pantry, active with the
17Henry Red Stocking Fund, and a member of the First Christian
18Church in Henry, where he served as a deacon, elder, and
19Chairman of the Board; he later joined the Henry Presbyterian
20Church; and
21    WHEREAS, William Greek was active with the Henry Rotary

1Club; he was a former President and a Paul Harris Fellow; he
2was a Group Study Exchange team member that traveled to
3Australia and in 2007 he was named Rotarian of the Year; and
4    WHEREAS, William Greek was Past Master of the Henry Masonic
5Lodge #119 Ancient Free and Accepted Masons, the Ancient
6Accepted Scottish Rite of Free Masonry NMJ, Peoria Consistory,
7and the Ancient Arabic Order Nobles of the Mohammed Shrine in
8Peoria, where he served as Potentate in 1980; he served as
9board member of the Shriners Hospital for Children in Chicago
10for 10 years, including 3 years as board secretary and he was
11also a member of Peoria Court 40, Royal Order of Jesters; and
12    WHEREAS, William Greek was preceded in death by his wife,
13Nan; his daughter, Mary Greek; his grandson, Andrew Greek; and
14his parents; and
15    WHEREAS, William Greek is survived by his daughter, Cyrena
16(Jerry) Anderson; his sons, Tyler (Samantha) Greek and
17Nathaniel (Jesica) Greek; and his grandchildren, William,
18Nicholas, Zachery, Brandon, Trevor, Daniel, and Madison;
19therefore, be it
21ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
22William D. Greek, and extend our sincere condolences to his

1family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
3    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
4presented to the family of William Greek as an expression of
5our deepest sympathy.
