SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Dolores (nee Ruddy) Stumm of New Orleans,
4Louisiana, formerly of Aurora, who passed away on June 3, 2013;
5and
 
6    WHEREAS, Dolores Stumm was born on December 9, 1923 to
7Walter and Annette Ruddy; she married Bob Stumm in 1947 and
8settled in Aurora; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Dolores Stumm started The Knit Shop in 1957 in her
10home with her partner, Frances K. Voris; she sold her interest
11in the business in 1991; she was an expert in needlework and
12taught many young people to knit, including her sons; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Dolores Stumm enjoyed playing games, baking, and
14spending countless hours with her grandchildren; she and her
15husband moved from Aurora to Bonita Springs, Florida and
16eventually made their way to New Orleans, Louisiana; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Dolores Stumm was preceded in death by her parents
18and her husband, Bob; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Dolores Stumm was survived by her sons, David
20(Kathy), Hans (Priscilla), and Rob (Kit); her grandchildren,

1Jenny Knapp, David, Brian, Jim, and Jack Stumm, Alexandra
2Pogorelec, Amanda Mooradian, Courtney Stumm, Celie Howard, and
3Sibyl Stumm; her 20 great-grandchildren; and her close friend,
4Sarah Longley Lauzen; therefore, be it
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
6ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
7Dolores Stumm, and extend our sincere condolences to her
8family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
9further
 
10    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11presented to the family of Dolores Stumm as an expression of
12our deepest sympathy.
