SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Dolores (nee Ruddy) Stumm of New Orleans, Louisiana, formerly of Aurora, who passed away on June 3, 2013; and

WHEREAS, Dolores Stumm was born on December 9, 1923 to Walter and Annette Ruddy; she married Bob Stumm in 1947 and settled in Aurora; and

WHEREAS, Dolores Stumm started The Knit Shop in 1957 in her home with her partner, Frances K. Voris; she sold her interest in the business in 1991; she was an expert in needlework and taught many young people to knit, including her sons; and

WHEREAS, Dolores Stumm enjoyed playing games, baking, and spending countless hours with her grandchildren; she and her husband moved from Aurora to Bonita Springs, Florida and eventually made their way to New Orleans, Louisiana; and

WHEREAS, Dolores Stumm was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Bob; and

WHEREAS, Dolores Stumm was survived by her sons, David (Kathy), Hans (Priscilla), and Rob (Kit); her grandchildren, Jenny Knapp, David, Brian, Jim, and Jack Stumm, Alexandra Pogorelec, Amanda Mooradian, Courtney Stumm, Celie Howard, and Sibyl Stumm; her 20 great-grandchildren; and her close friend, Sarah Longley Lauzen; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Dolores Stumm, and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Dolores Stumm as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
