SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Larry S. Mills of Danville, who passed away on July 5, 2013; and

WHEREAS, Larry Mills was born on January 17, 1955, in Elgin; his parents were Robert C. and Betty (Sholes) Mills; and

WHEREAS, Larry Mills had a long legal career as an assistant State's Attorney in Vermilion County and by later opening his own private law practice; he was jokingly known as a "walking law encyclopedia" and was always happy to answer questions from both prosecutors and defense attorneys; and

WHEREAS, Larry Mills was a member of the David Palmer Civic Center Board and the Vermilion County Board; and

WHEREAS, Larry Mills enjoyed books and was a member of two book clubs; he had a passion for movies and the theater and traveled annually to Stratford, Ontario for the Shakespeare festival; he also enjoyed cooking, long leisurely meals with his friends, and sharing a glass of wine with the ones he loved; and

WHEREAS, Larry Mills was preceded in death by his mother and his first wife, Ann Mills; and

WHEREAS, Larry Mills is survived by his father, Robert; his brother, Steve Mills; his sister, Cathy Yant; his nieces, Samantha Piper and Jamie (Scott) Burpo; his nephews, Levi (Kirsten) Yant, Jim (Kim) Mills, and Jason (Natalie) Mills; his special friends, Jan Keeler, Sue Woods, Lynda Morgan, and Frank Young; and his many great-nieces and great-nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his family and friends, mourn the passing of Larry S. Mills; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Larry Mills as an expression of our sympathy.
