SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Doris Louise Jones; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Doris Jones was born on November 10, 1936 in
5Benton, Mississippi to Willie Hendrix and Bettie Brooks; she
6graduated from Linwood High School in Yazoo County,
7Mississippi; as a young adult she loved to sing as a member of
8the Greengrove Singers, and along with family and friends, the
9group toured the south and achieved local celebrity status in
10their home state of Mississippi; she married Calvin Jones in
111956; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Doris Jones worked as a Licensed Practitioner
13Nurse in the 1970's and managed properties and tenant affairs
14for the real estate property her husband purchased; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Doris Jones's greatest passion was that of mother
16and homemaker; she became the "neighborhood mother" and often
17provided transportation to activities for the community's
18young people and often supplied employment to the youth in the
19neighborhood; she was active on the Missionary Board at the
20Victory Apostolic Faith Church, where she would clean members
21homes who needed help; she also enjoyed singing with a local
22gospel group which served the sick and shut-in within the

1senior citizen homes and centers in her community; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Doris Jones was preceded in death by her husband,
3Calvin; her parents; her sisters, Emma Williams, Eamestine
4Hart, Florence Brown, and Magnolia Bell; and her brother, James
5Bell; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Doris Jones is survived by her children, Peggie
7(David Franklin), Eamise, Hilda, Carolyn (Leonard Allain),
8Calvin B. Jr., Darron (Willnetta), Richard (Noelle), Eric
9(Carlisa), Carranza, and Marvill; her siblings, Earlene Bell,
10Gloria Bell, Henry Bell, Jessie Bell, Roosevelt Bell, Thelma
11(Johnny-B) Bunch, Albertine Hendrix, Barbara A. Hendrix,
12Clarence C. Hendrix, Cleotha (Eugenia) Hendrix, Earl J.
13(Estelle) Hendrix, Gloria E. Hendrix, Lloyd M. Hendrix, Porter
14(Pearl) Hendrix, Travis T. Hendrix, Willie Jr. (Lydia) Hendrix,
15Dorothy Faye (James) Morris, Sandra (Curtis) Pepper, and Alma
16(Gary) Spivey; and a host of beloved grandchildren, nieces, and
17nephews; therefore, be it
 
18    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
19ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
20Doris Louise Jones, and extend our sincere condolences to her
21family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
