SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of former Illinois legislator David J.
4Regner, who passed away on December 17, 2013; and
 
5    WHEREAS, David Regner was born in Chicago to Joseph and
6Catherine (nee Schramm) Regner; he graduated from DePaul
7University with a Bachelor of Science in Commerce and served
8his country in the United States Army during the Korean
9Conflict; and
 
10    WHEREAS, David Regner worked as an auditor and insurance
11broker and ran a consulting firm, Regner Enterprises Insurance;
12and
 
13    WHEREAS, David Regner had a long history of civic
14involvement, including service as an auditor of Elk Grove
15Township and as the first Vice-President of the Cook County
16Auditors' Association; he also held local and State offices
17with the Jaycees; and
 
18    WHEREAS, David Regner served as a Republican member of the
19Illinois House of Representatives from 1967 to 1972 and as a
20member of the Illinois State Senate from 1973-1980; he was also
21deputy committeeman for the Elk Grove Township Republican

1Organization and a member of the Platform Committee of the
2Illinois State Republican Committee in 1966, 1968, and 1970,
3serving as secretary in 1966; in 1980, he was a State campaign
4coordinator for presidential candidate Ronald Regan and
5Chairman of the Illinois Regan Delegate Committee; and
 
6    WHEREAS, David Regner caught the political bug again and
7successfully ran for Palatine Township Supervisor in 1993, a
8post he held for 4 terms until 2005; and
 
9    WHEREAS, David Regner was preceded in death by his first
10wife, Joan (nee Scanlan); his second wife, Joyce (nee LeFarie);
11his son, David Michael Regner; and his parents; and
 
12    WHEREAS, David Regner is survived by his wife, Jo Ann
13Mullen-Regner; his grandchildren, Jennifer Ryder, David Jason
14Regner, Anna Gustafson, Nicole and Emma Walsh, and Zachary
15Stewart; his great-grandchildren, Ava, Nathan, Lily, and Wyatt
16Ryder; his sisters, Dorothy (Norman) Delphey, Barbara Regner,
17and Marie Smizinski; and his daughter-in-law, Donna Regner;
18therefore, be it
 
19    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
20ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
21former Illinois legislator David J. Regner, and extend our
22sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew

1and loved him; and be it further
 
2    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
3presented to the family of David Regner as an expression of our
4deepest sympathy.
