SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of former State Representative Robert L. "Bob" Bergman of Palatine, who passed away on November 29, 2013; and

WHEREAS, Robert Bergman was born on November 10, 1948 in Elgin; his parents were Vernon and Marion (nee Luerssen) Bergman; and

WHEREAS, Robert Bergman was a graduate of Palatine High School; and

WHEREAS, Robert Bergman and his father worked together in the family trucking business, Bergman Trucking; he was later elected to serve as Palatine Township Highway Commissioner, a position he held for 24 years; he subsequently worked for the Illinois Secretary of State and served as an Illinois State Representative for one term; following his service to the State of Illinois, he worked for Arrow Road Construction, where he remained until the time of his retirement in 2012, all the while maintaining local political consultation and campaign management; and

WHEREAS, Robert Bergman was preceded in death by his mother, Marion, and his brother, John Bergman; and

WHEREAS, Robert Bergman is survived by his dear father, Vernon Bergman; his children, Jessica, Robert, and Daniel Bergman and Jennifer Schwartz; his grandchildren, Annabelle and Riley Bergman, Malcolm and Dominic Filichia, and Griffin and Hunter Schwartz; his siblings, Daniel (Gayle) and Tom (Lis) Bergman; and his nieces and nephews, Cari, Amanda, Katie, Thomas. Kathy, Karla, Derik, and Shane; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his family and friends, mourn the passing of former State Representative Robert L. "Bob" Bergman; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Robert Bergman as an expression of our sympathy.
