SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Charles Patrick Bohn of Alton, who passed away on January 30, 2014; and

WHEREAS, Charles Bohn was born on December 3, 1947 in Litchfield; his parents were Joseph William and Catherine (nee Sackach) Bohn; he married Barbara "Bunny" Gross on April 24, 1971 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Alton; and

WHEREAS, Charles Bohn served his country as a member of the United States Marine Corps; he was a recipient of a Purple Heart for his service during the Vietnam War; and

WHEREAS, Charles Bohn retired from Olin Corporation after many years of service; he was a member of the Carpenter Local 377 in Wood River; and

WHEREAS, Charles Bohn was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Alton; he was a lifetime member of the Alton Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1308, a lifetime member of the Purple Heart Society, a member of the Alton Eagles Lodge 254, a volunteer at the Boys and Girls Club in Alton, and a volunteer at the YWCA; and

WHEREAS, Charles Bohn was a loyal St. Louis Cardinals Baseball fan and Notre Dame Football fan; he also enjoyed gardening, cooking, baking, and fishing; he volunteered his carpentry skills to everyone and helped rebuild the Lodge at the Nature Institute in Godfrey; and

WHEREAS, Charles Bohn was preceded in death his parents and his brothers, John and Joe Bohn; and

WHEREAS, Charles Bohn is survived by his wife, Barbara; his children and their spouses, Jennifer and Joseph Rister, Patrick and Amy Bohn, and Natalie Bohn (fiance, Kevin Young); his grandchildren, Paige, Brooke, and Morgan Rister and Haley and Hadley Bohn; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Barbara Bohn, Ed and Kema Bohn, and Philip and Donna Bohn; and his sisters and brothers-in-law, Madeline and James Haine and Anne and Terry Jensen; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his family and friends, mourn the passing of Charles Patrick Bohn; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Charles Bohn as an expression of our sympathy.
