SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Sharon Lynn McDowell, who passed away on February 18, 2014; and

WHEREAS, Sharon McDowell was born in Chicago on August 18, 1948 to Warren and Dorothy McDowell; she attended St. James Elementary School and graduated from DuSable High School in Chicago in 1967; she later attended Wilson College in Pennsylvania; and

WHEREAS, Sharon McDowell worked as a cook in the family restaurant until retiring in 1984; and

WHEREAS, Affectionately known as "Shay-Shay", Sharon McDowell enjoyed cooking, skating, knitting, singing, and dancing; and

WHEREAS, Sharon McDowell was preceded in death by parents, and by her sister, Joyce Faye Williams; and

WHEREAS, Sharon McDowell is survived by her children, Brenda (Mack) Carmicheal, Anthony Williams, Alonzo McDowell, and Antonio McDowell; her grandchildren, Joyce Sparks, Kayla Carmicheal, and Antoinette McDowell; her sisters, Jacqueline Linzy, Barbara Reed, and Karen Buntyn; her brother, Melvin McDowell; and her 4 nephews and 7 nieces; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Sharon Lynn McDowell, and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Sharon McDowell as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
