SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Elijah Maxey, who passed away on February 23, 2014; and

WHEREAS, Elijah Maxey was born on December 10, 1948 in Shreveport, Louisiana; he attended DuSable High School in Chicago; and

WHEREAS, Elijah Maxey worked as a journeyman electrician through the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 134 from 1969 through 2010; and

WHEREAS, Affectionately known as "Egypt", Elijah Maxey was a surrogate father to many of his sons' friends; and

WHEREAS, Elijah Maxey was the father of 3 sons, Elijah, Jr., Jeffrey, and Jermaine; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Elijah Maxey, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Elijah Maxey as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
