SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
105 ILCS 5/26-13  from Ch. 122, par. 26-13

    Amends the Article of the School Code concerning compulsory attendance of pupils. Provides that all school districts shall, every 2 years, review and update all policies regarding attendance, absenteeism, and truancy, using data from the previous 360 regular attendance school days. Provides that each district must create and distribute an administrative procedure manual implementing the updated policies, upon approval of the school board. Provides that notice of the availability of the updated policies and administrative procedure manuals must be published in a newspaper of general circulation within the school district on or before September 30 every 2 years. Effective immediately.

1    AN ACT concerning education.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The School Code is amended by changing Section
526-13 as follows:
 
6    (105 ILCS 5/26-13)  (from Ch. 122, par. 26-13)
7    Sec. 26-13. Absenteeism and truancy policies. School
8districts shall adopt policies, consistent with rules adopted
9by the State Board of Education, which identify the appropriate
10supportive services and available resources which are provided
11for truants and chronic truants. Beginning on the effective
12date of this amendatory Act of the 99th General Assembly, all
13school districts shall, every 2 years, review and update all
14policies regarding attendance, absenteeism, and truancy.
15School districts shall use existing data on attendance,
16truancy, chronic truancy, and any other applicable information
17from the past 360 regular attendance school days for all
18students subject to compulsory school attendance to inform the
19update. Upon the approval of the school board, each district
20must immediately create and distribute administrative
21procedure manuals implementing the updated policies to all
22schools within the district, including charter schools, and
23make the updated policies and manual available on the

1district's Internet website. Notice of the availability of the
2updated policies and administrative procedure manuals must be
3published in a newspaper of general circulation within the
4school district on or before September 30 every 2 years.
