HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to recognize Molly Feller on her
4achievements in the Girl Scouts of America Youth Organization
5and her efforts to improve her neighborhood; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Molly Feller, a rising ninth grade resident of
7Norwood Park received a Girl Scout Silver Award at the Girl
8Scout Troop 21008 Investiture Ceremony at Immaculate
9Conception School; and
 
10    WHEREAS, The Girl Scout Silver Award is an award that
11challenges girls to be their best; it is the second highest
12National Girl Scout award and the highest award at the Cadette
13level to which Molly Feller belongs; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Before a Girl Scout can attempt to earn a Silver
15Award she must complete a Girl Scout Journey and learn the
16skills needed to take the next step by earning the Journey
17awards, which include creating and carrying out a Take Action
18project; and
 
19    WHEREAS, The Girl Scout Silver Award is a seven-step
20process with a minimum time commitment of 50 hours to prove
21that one is a leader who is organized, determined, and

1dedicated to improving her community; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Molly Feller has been working at The Danish Home
3of Chicago, a retirement community in her neighborhood, to
4paint sidewalks, safety curbs, spray paint fences, and perform
5other tasks for the betterment of the home and its residents;
6and
 
7    WHEREAS, Molly Feller identified a threat to songbirds
8residing peacefully outside of the senior home and wanted to
9take action; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Molly Feller led fellow scouts in the effort to
11build birdhouses to protect the beloved birds of the community
12from predators; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Molly Feller developed relationships with
14residents of the retirement community and successfully
15completed a sustainable project that will live on in the
16community; therefore, be it
 
17    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
18NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
19recognize Molly Feller on her achievements in the Girl Scouts
20of America Youth Organization and her efforts to improve her
21neighborhood; and be it further

1    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
2presented to Molly Feller as a symbol of our respect and
3esteem.
