HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Dr. Basil Anthony Moskoff of Zeigler, who passed away on November 25, 2014; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Basil Moskoff was born in Zeigler on July 18, 1927 to Anton Basil and Julia Katherine (nee Raski) Moskoff; he graduated from Zeigler High School (now Zeigler-Royalton High School) in 1945; he served in the United States Army during World War II; he graduated from Southern Illinois University and then from the University of Illinois College of Medicine in 1953; he married Betty Jean Roth on October 10, 1953 in Chicago; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Basil Moskoff practiced medicine in Zeigler for 48 years until his retirement in 2001; he was a charter member of and board certified by the American Academy of Family Physicians; he was also a member of the Franklin County Medical Society and the Illinois State Medical Society; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Basil Moskoff was a member of Zeigler American Legion, Patrick McClellan Post 177; he was also a member of St. Aloysius-Sacred Heart Parish in Royalton, the Franklin County Country Club, the Eagles Lodge in Zeigler, the Rotary Club of Herrin, and the Knights of Columbus in Herrin; he enjoyed fishing, golfing, spending time with family and friends, and grilling and hosting family dinners; he was affectionately known as "Dedo" or "Dr. Bill"; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Basil Moskoff was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Basil Moskoff is survived by his wife, Betty; his 4 sons, Bill Moskoff (Milagros Romero), Bob (Elaine) Moskoff, Tony Moskoff (Michele Harbin), and John (Kimberly) Moskoff; his 2 daughters, Julia Moskoff (Doug McDonald) and Mary Rawlings; his 5 grandchildren, Natalie McDonald, Ryan and Richard Rawlings, and Bobbi Jo and Boris Moskoff; his 2 brothers-in-law and a sister-in-law, Richard and Pat Roth and family and Mary Joan and Fred Barlow and family, and Jack Roth; cousins of the Moskoff family, Larry and Bill; cousins of the Raski family, John and his sister, Mary Kay Grezlak; and Michael Petroski; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Dr. Basil Anthony Moskoff, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Dr. Basil Moskoff as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
