HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The Equal Pay Act of 1963, as amended, guarantees
3wage parity to all Americans and mandates that employers
4provide equal pay to men and women for equal work; and
 
5    WHEREAS, The courts have spoken out on the Equal Pay Act of
61963 and have issued decisions that have created a large
7quantity of case law that enables employers, workers, and
8practitioners of employment law to comprehend and interpret the
9Act; therefore, be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
11NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
12strongly support workplace equity and equality under the law
13covering pay and benefits for employees as established by the
14Equal Pay Act of 1963, the Constitution, statutory law, and
15case law; and be it further
 
16    RESOLVED, That we support the Equal Pay Act of 1963 and
17consistent statutory and case law in support of workplace
18fairness and equity, including rights that are clearly defined
19and understood by all employers, all employees, and all
20contractors; and be it further
 
21    RESOLVED, That we support consistent application of the

1Equal Pay Act of 1963, other federal statutory law, and federal
2and State case law to issues of workplace pay in the belief
3that these laws will help Illinois continue to move forward
4towards equality under the law; and be it further
 
5    RESOLVED, That we support the continued efforts of the
6Illinois Human Rights Commission to monitor and advocate for
7implementation of equality under the law, including issues of
8workplace compensation and pay; and be it further
 
9    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
10delivered to Rose Mary Bombela-Tobias, Chairman of the Illinois
11Human Rights Commission.
