HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The Zion-Benton Coalition for Healthy Communities
3was formed in 1995, recognizing that community residents were
4deeply concerned about healthcare issues that extend beyond the
5walls of the hospital; the administration of the Cancer
6Treatment Centers of America at the Midwestern Regional Medical
7Center invited a group of leaders to assemble to discuss ideas
8to improve the health and wellness of the community; and
 
9    WHEREAS, The Coalition set out to focus on the following
10concerns: adolescent substance abuse, cultural diversity
11awareness, parenting and teen sexuality education,
12immunizations for young children, and access to primary
13healthcare; and
 
14    WHEREAS, The Coalition concentrated efforts on the
15residents and communities connecting to Zion-Benton Township
16High School; its efforts were guided by community leaders
17representing Beach Park, Winthrop Harbor, Zion, and areas of
18Newport Township; and
 
19    WHEREAS, The Coalition set out to fulfill the belief that
20"leading our communities in a collaborative effort to improve
21identified health, wellness and social issues" would guide
22their efforts to create a healthier community; and

1    WHEREAS, For the past 20 years, the Zion-Benton Coalition
2for Healthy Communities has been dedicated to building a
3stronger and healthier community; therefore, be it
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
5NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
6recognize the Zion-Benton Coalition for Healthy Communities
7and thank them for 20 years of dedicated service to the people
8of Beach Park, Winthrop Harbor, Zion, and areas of Newport
9Township; and be it further
 
10    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11presented to the Zion-Benton Coalition for Healthy Communities
12as an expression of our esteem and respect.
