HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, Linda E. Daley retired on January 1, 2015 after extraordinary service as legislative aide and chief of staff to Rep. David R. Leitch, beginning in January of 1989; and

WHEREAS, Linda Daley is recognized throughout Illinois for her exceptional ability to solve difficult constituent problems, her fundraising prowess, and her legions of friends within the General Assembly, State agencies, and legislative staff; and

WHEREAS, Linda Daley has earned the esteem of the Peoria community for her service on the Peoria District 150 Board of Education from 1986 to 1996; the Peoria Charter School Board from 1996 to 1998; the Peoria Public Library Board from 2004 to 2013; and currently, the Peoria Riverfront Museum Board of Trustees from 2013 to present; and

WHEREAS, Linda Daley was President of the District 150 School Board in 1991 and from 1994 to 1996; she was especially proud of developing the Valeska Hinton Early Childhood Center, the most innovative early childhood center of its day; in 1996, the Illinois State Board of Education selected her for the statewide "Those Who Excel" award of excellence; and

WHEREAS, Linda Daley, as building committee chair, led a $28 million project to construct a new library and renovate 4 others, including a Carnegie landmark; the projects were under budget and ahead of schedule; she was Vice-President from 2010 to 2012 and President from 2012 to 2013 of the Peoria Public Library Board; and

WHEREAS, Linda Daley's other honors include the "25 Women in Leadership", the 2006 Key Leader award, the YMCA Illini Cluster in 1998, the "Leading Edge" community leadership award in 1996, and the Charles C. Schlink Good Government Award in 1995; and

WHEREAS, Linda Daley graduated from the University of Illinois with a Bachelor of Science in Biology; she was a GED instructor from 1988 to 1989 and taught horticulture at Illinois Central College from 1977 to 1979; and

WHEREAS, Linda Daley has 3 children, Aaron (Becky), grandson Parker; Adam (Morgan), grandchildren, Emerson, Grant, and Palmer; and Alison; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we commend Linda E. Daley for her excellent service on behalf of the people of Illinois and wish her a long and happy retirement; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Linda Daley as an expression of our esteem and respect.
