1 HOUSE RESOLUTION

2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are pleased to congratulate Dr. Gregory Delost
4 on receiving the "2015 Rural Physician of Excellence Award"
5 from the Illinois Rural Health Association; and

6     WHEREAS, One of the biggest healthcare challenges across
7 our nation is the shortage of physicians who practice in rural
8 settings; and

9     WHEREAS, In 1975, Dr. Delost graduated from the University
10 of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a Bachelor of Science
11 degree in Biology; and

12     WHEREAS, In 1980, Dr. Delost graduated from the Autonomous
13 University Medical School in Tampico, Mexico; and

14     WHEREAS, In 1985, Dr. Delost went on to complete his
15 residency in family practice at the University of Illinois
16 College of Medicine in Rockford; and

17     WHEREAS, Dr. Delost began his medical career as an
18 emergency room physician in 1984; and

19     WHEREAS, Since 1985, Dr. Delost has been providing full

1 service family care to generations of families in Gibson City;
2 and

3     WHEREAS, Dr. Delost, in his work since 1994 as a clinical
4 instructor in family practice at the University of Illinois
5 School of Medicine, has trained 2 generations of doctors; and

6     WHEREAS, Dr. Delost has a special compassion for elderly
7 patients and serves as Medical Director of the Annex Long Term
8 Care Facility, where he makes a special effort to visit his
9 patients whenever they are having a bad day and need extra
10 attention; he also works closely with their family members to
11 provide comfort and support; and

12     WHEREAS, Dr. Delost's advocacy does not end with his
13 patients; he is also an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals;
14 therefore, be it

15     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
16 NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
17 congratulate Dr. Delost on receiving the "2015 Rural Physician
18 of Excellence Award" and we commend him for his selfless
19 service to his community and the impact he has made on
20 improving rural healthcare; and be it further

21     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be

1 presented to Dr. Delost as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
