| 1 | | SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION
| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois General Assembly are
| 3 | | pleased to honor those individuals who have made lasting | 4 | | contributions to the State of Illinois and its citizens; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Jerome F. "JR" McBride, Jr. of Glenn Ellyn passed | 6 | | away on October 24, 2014; and
| 7 | | WHEREAS, Jerome McBride, Jr. represented District 4 on the
| 8 | | DuPage County Board since 2006; he served as Chairman of the | 9 | | Board's Legislative Committee, and he previously had chaired | 10 | | the Judicial and Public Safety, Public Transit, and Technology | 11 | | committees; and
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Before entering electoral politics, Jerome | 13 | | McBride, Jr. had a long history of community service, including | 14 | | serving on the Main Street Redevelopment Committee in Forest | 15 | | Park and serving with the DuPage chapter of the American Cancer | 16 | | Society; he also was on the board of Glenbard West High | 17 | | School's booster club and was a member of the Glen Ellyn | 18 | | Architectural Review Commission and the Rotary Club of Glen | 19 | | Ellyn; and
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Jerome McBride, Jr. grew up in Oak Park; he | 21 | | graduated from Fenwick High School and Loras College in |

| 1 | | Dubuque, Iowa; he worked for his family's business, McBride | 2 | | Insurance Agency; and
| 3 | | WHEREAS, Jerome McBride, Jr. is survived by his wife, | 4 | | Becky; his 4 daughters, Lauren, Molly, Abigail, and Sara; his | 5 | | son, Marty; his father, Jerry, Sr.; his 2 sisters, Kara Brophy | 6 | | and Joy Gibson; and his brother, Bill; therefore, be it
| 7 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL | 8 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES | 9 | | CONCURRING HEREIN, that we designate the bridge at Illinois | 10 | | Route 38 and Illinois Route 53 as the "Jerome F. "JR" McBride, | 11 | | Jr. Memorial Bridge"; and be it further | 12 | | RESOLVED, That the Illinois Department of Transportation
| 13 | | is requested to erect at suitable locations, consistent with
| 14 | | State and federal regulations, appropriate plaques or signs
| 15 | | giving notice of the name "Jerome F. "JR" McBride, Jr. Memorial | 16 | | Bridge"; and be it further
| 17 | | RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be | 18 | | presented to the family of Jerome McBride, Jr. and the | 19 | | Secretary of the Department of Transportation.
