| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Langdon "Red" Longwell of Oak Park, who | 4 | | passed away on October 5, 2014; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Langdon Longwell was born in Oak Park on October | 6 | | 13, 1930 to Langdon and Madeline (nee Bentley) Longwell; he | 7 | | graduated from York Community High School in Elmhurst in 1948 | 8 | | and attended DePaul University; he served 6 years as a petty | 9 | | officer in the United States Navy during the Korean War; he | 10 | | married Llyn Forrest in March of 1962; and
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Langdon Longwell returned to Chicago following | 12 | | his time in the service and he began a career in industrial | 13 | | plastics; and
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Langdon Longwell was a founding member of the | 15 | | Lakeshore Ski and Sports Club in Chicago; he was a former board | 16 | | member of Oak-Leyden Developmental Services and a former | 17 | | commissioner of the Park District of Oak Park; he was a member | 18 | | of the "Old Bulls" men's book club and attended a book club | 19 | | with his wife for 30 years; he was also a member of the | 20 | | original 4th of July fireworks committee in Oak Park; he | 21 | | enjoyed playing handball, playing for over 40 years; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Langdon Longwell was preceded in death by his | 2 | | parents; and
| 3 | | WHEREAS, Langdon Longwell is survived by his wife, Llyn | 4 | | Longwell; his children, Jordan (Amanda) Longwell and Dana | 5 | | (Brian) Morrow; his grandchildren, Jackson, Alexa, and | 6 | | Victoria Longwell, and Holland and Conor Morrow; his sister, | 7 | | Corinne (Steven) Pombert; and his sister-in-law, Lee (Neal) | 8 | | Kottke; therefore, be it
| 9 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL | 10 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 11 | | Langdon "Red" Longwell, and extend our sincere condolences to | 12 | | his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | 13 | | further
