SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Helen Scheible Streit of Waukegan, who passed away on November 30, 2015; and

WHEREAS, Helen Streit was born on February 20, 1929 in Chicago and was a lifelong resident of the area; her parents were George and Helen Scheible; she married Thomas J. Streit on August 25, 1956; and

WHEREAS, Helen Streit received her Bachelor of Arts in Education in 1951 from DePaul University; in 1953, she received her Master of Arts in Psychology from Northwestern University; in 1954, she received her Ph.D. in Psychology from Northwestern University; and

WHEREAS, Helen Streit retired from DePaul University in Chicago where she was a psychology professor for many years; and

WHEREAS, Helen Streit was a member of St. Dismas Parish in Waukegan and Sigma XI, an Honor Scientific Society; and

WHEREAS, Helen Streit is preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Mary Jane Scheible; and

WHEREAS, Helen Streit is survived by her husband of 59 years, Thomas; her children, Thomas G. Streit, Karol Streit Rini, James M. Streit, and Michael G. Streit; and her grandchildren, Monica, Alyson, Macy, and Alex Streit and Sydney and Gabrielle Rini; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with her family and friends, mourn the passing of Helen Scheible Streit; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Helen Streit as an expression of our sympathy.
