SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Rev. Stanley G. Lane of Joliet, who
4passed away on December 30, 2015; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Rev. Lane was born in Yuma, Colorado to Lloyd J.
6and Nellie (nee Atkinson) Lane on August 20, 1925; he served as
7a Tech Artillery Sergeant in the United States Army during
8World War II in France and Germany; he married Betty Lou Voight
9on June 6, 1947; he graduated from Nebraska Wesleyan
10University, Garrett Theological Seminary, and took chaplain
11training at the Topeka State Mental Hospital, while being a
12Methodist minister in Kingston, Scales Mound, and Elizabeth,
13and Williamsburg, Kansas; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Rev. Lane served as Chaplain at the Illinois Youth
15Commission and the Reception and Diagnostic Center for
16Delinquent Boys in Joliet for 30 years; he was instrumental in
17starting the Community Services Center, the Senior Services
18Center, and the Big Brothers of Will County; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Rev. Lane served on numerous boards throughout
20Will County; he also volunteered at Saint Joseph Medical Center
21for over 10 years; and

1    WHEREAS, Rev. Lane was preceded in death by his wife of 63
2years, Betty; his grandson, Jeremy L. Lane; his
3daughter-in-law, Mary Lane; and his parents; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Rev. Lane is survived by his children, Jerry (Jean
5Evans), Sydney (Catherine), David, and Linda (Stephen)
6Meister; his 11 grandchildren; and his 13 great-grandchildren;
7therefore, be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
9ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
10Rev. Stanley G. Lane, and extend our sincere condolences to his
11family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
12further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the family of Rev. Lane as an expression of our
15deepest sympathy.
