SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Bliss E. O'Connor of Waukegan, who passed away on December 9, 2015; and

WHEREAS, Bliss O'Connor was born in Pocatello, Idaho on May 11, 1924 to Harry L. and Bliss Winerfred McClintock and was a longtime Waukegan resident; she graduated from St. John's Mercy Hospital Nursing School in 1945; and

WHEREAS, Bliss O'Connor retired from Victory Memorial Hospital as an emergency room nurse after many years of service; she and her son, Kevin, were actively involved in the early years of special education development at the Waukegan School District; and

WHEREAS, Bliss O'Connor was an active member of St. Anastasia Parish for over 65 years, where she volunteered at the soup kitchen and PADS, serving needy members of the community, and funeral luncheons, and was a member of the Women's Club; and

WHEREAS, Bliss O'Connor was preceded in death by her husband, Francis J. O'Connor; her daughter, Mary Guelich; her brother, Tom McClintock, and her parents; and

WHEREAS, Bliss O'Connor is survived by her sons, F. Joseph (Nancy) O'Connor, Patrick (Laura) O'Connor, and Kevin O'Connor, and her grandchildren, Shawn O'Connor, Courtney O'Connor, Kathleen O'Connor, and Dillon Guelich; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Bliss E. O'Connor, and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Bliss O'Connor as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
