SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Margaret Ruth Dorsey of Waukegan, who passed away on January 18, 2016; and

WHEREAS, Margaret Dorsey was born on September 25, 1924 in Florence, Alabama; her parents were George and Olivia Hollingsworth; she resided in North Chicago and Waukegan for 77 years; and

WHEREAS, Margaret Dorsey retired from American Motors after 30 years of employment; after retiring, she became a certified manicurist; and

WHEREAS, Margaret Dorsey enjoyed fishing, rummage sales, cooking, casino trips, gardening, and spending time with her family; and

WHEREAS, Margaret Dorsey was preceded in death by her husband, James Dorsey, Sr.; her parents; her son, Doctor James Dorsey, Jr.; her daughter, Joan Winston; her brothers, George and Robert Hollingsworth; and her grandchildren, Yvonne Winston, Abray Dorsey, and Jocelyn Dorsey; and

WHEREAS, Margaret Dorsey is survived by her daughter, Frances (Patrick) Tompkins; her sons, Curtis (Barbara) Dorsey and Marvin (Brenda) Dorsey; her brother, Fred Hollingsworth; her nieces, Brianne (Shawn) Rhyner and Arnita (Michael) Johnson; her nephews, Melvin (Catherine) Craigen and Alvin (Ernestine) Craigen; her grandchildren, Belinda, Patrick, Tinya, Jerine, Catherine, Barbara, Curtis II, Jamie, Derrick, Kelley, Tamara, and Khershuana; her 14 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren; and her many other relatives and friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with her family and friends, mourn the passing of Margaret Ruth Dorsey; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Margaret Dorsey as an expression of our sympathy.
