SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Kendall J. "Ken" Smith of Gurnee, who
4passed away on January 9, 2016 at the age of 82; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Kendall Smith was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to
6John and Hazel (nee Chromasta) Smith in 1933 and raised in
7Racine; he graduated from Northwestern University and lived in
8the Lake County area since 1955; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Kendall Smith spent 40 years working with natural
10gas companies; he worked for North Shore Gas, Peoples Gas, and
11the MidCon Corporation, retiring in 1996; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Kendall Smith was a longtime choir member and
13Sunday School music leader at St. Paul's Lutheran church in
14Waukegan; in recent years, he was a member of St. Mark's
15Lutheran Church in Waukegan, where he sang with the choir and
16participated in other activities; he also worked with PADS and
17was an election judge in Lake County for 10 years; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Kendall Smith was preceded in death by his
19parents; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Kendall Smith is survived by his wife, Jan (nee

1Glogovsky); his daughter, Robin (Harry); the children of his
2first marriage, Jamison (Lora), Jay (Dori), Jeff "Woody", and
3Jennifer (David) Novich; his 3 grandchildren; and his 3
4great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
6ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
7Kendall J. "Ken" Smith, and extend our sincere condolences to
8his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
9further
 
10    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11presented to the family of Kendall Smith as an expression of
12our deepest sympathy.
