SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Patrick R. Condon of Joliet, who passed
4away on February 19, 2016; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Patrick Condon was born in Joliet to John R. and
6Cecile (nee Bannon) Condon on May 30, 1925; he graduated from
7St. Raymond Grade School, and Joliet Catholic High School in
81943; he attended Joliet Junior College, where he was the
9Junior College National Leading Scorer for basketball
101944-1945; he served as an Ensign aboard the aircraft carrier
11LSM-176 assigned to the Asiatic-Pacific Theater during World
12War II; he graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a
13Bachelor of Science in Naval Sciences in 1947 and from
14Marquette University with a Bachelor of Science in Business
15Administration in 1950; he married Norma J. Steinke on January
1626, 1952; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Patrick Condon was self-employed for 23 years as a
18manufacturing representative, retiring in 1993; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Patrick Condon was a member of Knights of Columbus
20Council #387 for 65 years; he, along with his wife, Norma,
21supported and volunteered their time at St. Patrick's Catholic
22Church, School, and Retirement Home, St. Jude Catholic Church

1and School, St. Francis Academy, and Joliet Catholic High
2School; from 1985 to 2010, he served with Will County Habitat
3for Humanity by finding donated land to build new homes; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Patrick Condon was awarded Joliet Catholic
5Academy's Alumni of the Year in 1990 and Will County Habitat
6for Humanity Honors for Extraordinary Service in 2013; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Patrick Condon was preceded in death by his
8beloved wife of 61 years, Norma; his parents; and his in-laws,
9Joseph and Louise (nee Sommer) Steinke; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Patrick Condon is survived by his children, Brian
11R. (Jody) Condon, Peggy A. Condon, Michael J. (Deb) Condon,
12Jane M. (Dick Hunckler) Condon, Caryn L. Condon, Mary Kay
13Green, John W. (Laurie) Condon, and Cathy C. (Rob) Houston; his
1419 grandchildren, Christopher (Michelle) Condon, Shannon
15(Mark) Yundt, Jonathan (Natalie) Cruz, Kyle, Kaitlin, and
16Lindsay Condon, Sean (Shenna) Boyer, Hayley Boyer, Andrew,
17Sarah, Casey, and Kevin Green, Grant and Kent Williams, Alex
18and Dana Condon, and Colleen, Joe, and Grace Loverde; his
19great-grandchildren, Colton and Cade Condon, Aiden and Paige
20Yundt, and Anna and Gabriella Cruz; his siblings, Fr. William
21F. Condon, Marilyn Flavin, and Virginia Hartmann; his
22sister-in-law, Mary Alice Steinke; and numerous nieces and
23nephews; therefore, be it

1    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
2ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
3Patrick R. Condon, and extend our sincere condolences to his
4family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
5further
 
6    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
7presented to the family of Patrick Condon as an expression of
8our deepest sympathy.
