SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Lavon "Cy" Smith, who passed away on March 20, 2016; and

WHEREAS, Lavon Smith was born on April 24, 1936 in Dyersburg, Tennessee; his parents were Herman and Jessie Smith; he lived in Joliet for 63 years; and

WHEREAS, Lavon Smith was the owner of Cy's Heating and Cooling for many years until his retirement; his son Mike subsequently took over the business; and

WHEREAS, Lavon Smith was preceded in death by his parents; and

WHEREAS, Lavon Smith is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Nell; he was the loving father of Mike (Judy) Smith and Kay (Jim) Elmore; the grandfather of Michael, Jordon Smith, Zach (Jackie) Ficarella, Steven (K.T.) Elmore, and Laura (Dusty) Stratton; the great-grandfather of Nellie Stratton; and the brother of Lavern (Jan) Long and Doris (John) Davis; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his family and friends, mourn the passing of Lavon "Cy" Smith; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Lavon Smith as an expression of our sympathy.
