SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Roger J. Seghetti of Peoria, who passed
4away on February 25, 2015; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Roger Seghetti was born in Streator on January 20,
61936 to Kling and Alma (nee Smith) Seghetti and grew up in
7nearby Toluca; he married Rose Gerardo on August 29, 1959 at
8St. Ann Parish in Toluca; he graduated from Bradley University
9in 1959 with a Bachelor of Science in Business and a minor in
10economics; he served in the United States Air Force Reserve and
11was activated during the Berlin Crisis of 1961; and
 
12    WHEREAS, In 1959, Roger Seghetti was hired by WABCO,
13Construction & Mining Division, which was later acquired by
14American Standard Corp. and then Dresser Industries; he worked
15in various management positions in finance, business planning,
16and for a short period of time, as a consultant, until his
17retirement in 1987; in 1967, he and his wife began a full-time
18devotion to the development and management of Red Carpet Car
19Wash, first on Jefferson Street and then to 2 additional
20locations; he also developed several real estate projects in
21the Peoria area; and
 
22    WHEREAS, Roger Seghetti served on several local community

1service boards, including the Salvation Army Advisory Board,
2the Order of Saint Francis Foundation Board, and the Morton
3Community Bank Advisory Board; he also served as a Trustee and
4finance council member for St. Vincent de Paul Parish in
5Peoria, where he and his wife were founding members; they were
6also members of Legatus and Mount Hawley Country Club; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Roger Seghetti was a 3-time champion of the Clitch
8Capponi Memorial Bocci Ball Tournament, held annually on Labor
9Day weekend in Toluca, which is the largest bocci ball
10tournament in the State of Illinois; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Roger Seghetti was preceded in death by his
12parents; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Roger Seghetti is survived by his wife, Rose, and
14their 3 children, Michael (Jeannie) Seghetti, David Seghetti,
15and Kathryn (Dan) Maloof; his 6 grandchildren, Anna Seghetti,
16William, Anthony, and Gina Seghetti, and Jacob and Margaret
17Maloof; and his 2 sisters-in-law, Kay Gerardo and Ann Gerardo;
18therefore, be it
 
19    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
20ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
21Roger J. Seghetti, and extend our sincere condolences to his
22family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it

2    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
3presented to the family of Roger Seghetti as an expression of
4our deepest sympathy.
