SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Walter Franz Veile, who passed away on
4February 24, 2015; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Walter Veile was born in Heidenheim Germany on
6November 7, 1933 to Kaspar & Frida (nee Schwendemann) Veile;
7and
 
8    WHEREAS, Walter Veile learned the baking profession as an
9apprentice in his uncle's bakery and later worked as a baker
10and pastry chef in Germany, Switzerland, and Austria; he
11immigrated to the United States in 1957 and settled in the
12Chicago area, working in several bakeries; he then served in
13the United States Army for 2 years; he married Verena Lauener
14of Switzerland in 1971 and they moved to Lake Bluff shortly
15thereafter; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Upon returning from the Army, Walter Veile opened
17Walter's Bakery in North Chicago, which he operated for several
18years before owning and operating Market Square Pastries in
19Lake Forest; he retired in 1994; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Walter Veile was an avid model train and stamp
21collector and was very active with the D.A.N.K. (German

1American National Congress) Lake County chapter; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Walter Veile was preceded in death by his parents,
3and his wife, Verena; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Walter Veile is survived by his children, Markus
5(Janel) and Sonja (Jeremy) Dwyer; his grandchildren, Ella,
6Leah, Abigail, and Alexander; his brothers, Herbert (Maria) and
7Gerhart; as well as many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
9ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
10Walter Franz Veile, and extend our sincere condolences to his
11family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
12further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the family of Walter Veile as an expression of our
15deepest sympathy.
