SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Mildred I. "Millie" Best, who passed away on May 9, 2015; and

WHEREAS, Mildred Best was born on January 31, 1918 in Junction City, Kansas; her parents were Ade and Audrey Brooks; she was a former 35-year resident of Hawaii and lived in Vernon Hills for the past 15 years; and

WHEREAS, Mildred Best was a graduate of the DePaul University School of Nursing in St. Louis and a member of St. Mary of Vernon Parish in Indian Creek; and

WHEREAS, Mildred Best was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Jimmie Brooks; and

WHEREAS, Mildred Best is survived by 3 daughters, Sue Ann Carreon, Maria Jean Reece, and Jan (Jim) Hartshorne; 6 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; and her former husband and beloved friend, Glen Best; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with her family and friends, mourn the passing of Mildred I. "Millie" Best; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Mildred Best as an expression of our sympathy.
