SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Nelle Rose Rasmus of Loda, who passed away on August 23, 2015; and

WHEREAS, Nelle Rasmus was born near Paxton on March 10, 1930 to William Burns and Ethel Picket (nee Wilson) Young; she married Delmar Vernon Rasmus on December 10, 1948 at the Paxton Church of Christ; and

WHEREAS, Nelle Rasmus worked for 30 years at Terry's Auto Supply and Terry's Ford Mercury as the office manager and bookkeeper; prior to that, she worked for 11 years at C.E. Healey and Son in Loda; after retirement, she and her husband purchased a home in Tavares, Florida; they spent the winters in Florida as snowbirds and the summers in Illinois; and

WHEREAS, Nelle Rasmus was a longtime member of the Iroquois Unit 503, Loda American Legion Auxiliary, where she held many offices and committee chairmanships; she was also a member of the Iroquois Salon 667 of the "8 & 40", serving as Chapeau (President) and Cassiere (Treasurer); she was a member of the Iroquois Republican Women, serving on the election board, and was a Trustee on the Loda Village Board for a time; she sat on the Le Chateau Villa Association Board of Tavares, Florida, where she held many offices; and

WHEREAS, Nelle Rasmus enjoyed people and loved to engage in conversation; one of her favorite topics was politics; and

WHEREAS, Nelle Rasmus was preceded in death by her husband, Delmar; her parents; her 2 sisters, Betty Mabis and Margaret Holbrook; and her 2 brothers, Kendall and William "Bill" Young; and

WHEREAS, Nelle Rasmus is survived by her 2 sons, Kevin (Lee Ann) Rasmus and Keith (Julia) Rasmus; her 3 grandchildren; and her brother, Robert (Sue) Young; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Nelle Rose Rasmus, and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Nelle Rasmus as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
