SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Nelle Rose Rasmus of Loda, who passed
4away on August 23, 2015; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Nelle Rasmus was born near Paxton on March 10,
61930 to William Burns and Ethel Picket (nee Wilson) Young; she
7married Delmar Vernon Rasmus on December 10, 1948 at the Paxton
8Church of Christ; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Nelle Rasmus worked for 30 years at Terry's Auto
10Supply and Terry's Ford Mercury as the office manager and
11bookkeeper; prior to that, she worked for 11 years at C.E.
12Healey and Son in Loda; after retirement, she and her husband
13purchased a home in Tavares, Florida; they spent the winters in
14Florida as snowbirds and the summers in Illinois; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Nelle Rasmus was a longtime member of the Iroquois
16Unit 503, Loda American Legion Auxiliary, where she held many
17offices and committee chairmanships; she was also a member of
18the Iroquois Salon 667 of the "8 & 40", serving as Chapeau
19(President) and Cassiere (Treasurer); she was a member of the
20Iroquois Republican Women, serving on the election board, and
21was a Trustee on the Loda Village Board for a time; she sat on
22the Le Chateau Villa Association Board of Tavares, Florida,

1where she held many offices; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Nelle Rasmus enjoyed people and loved to engage in
3conversation; one of her favorite topics was politics; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Nelle Rasmus was preceded in death by her husband,
5Delmar; her parents; her 2 sisters, Betty Mabis and Margaret
6Holbrook; and her 2 brothers, Kendall and William "Bill" Young;
7and
 
8    WHEREAS, Nelle Rasmus is survived by her 2 sons, Kevin (Lee
9Ann) Rasmus and Keith (Julia) Rasmus; her 3 grandchildren; and
10her brother, Robert (Sue) Young; therefore, be it
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
12ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
13Nelle Rose Rasmus, and extend our sincere condolences to her
14family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
15further
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17presented to the family of Nelle Rasmus as an expression of our
18deepest sympathy.
