SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Harmon Mitchell of Rockford, who passed away on September 1, 2015; and

WHEREAS, Harmom Mitchell graduated from East High School in Rockford; he later served on the Rockford School Board for 6 years, guiding it through difficult periods; and

WHEREAS, Harmon Mitchell was a retired banker and community advocate and volunteer; and

WHEREAS, Harmon Mitchell was a finalist for the 2013 Rockford Register Star Excalibur award for outstanding community service; and

WHEREAS, Harmon Mitchell attended St. Rita Catholic Church and was a 3rd-degree member of the Knights of Columbus; he was an avid golfer and Chicago Cubs fan; and

WHEREAS, Harmon Mitchell is survived by his wife, Diane (Dal Pra); his 2 sons, Matthew and Marcus; his 2 daughters, Marissa and Mary-Margaret; and his 10 grandchildren; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Harmon Mitchell, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Harmon Mitchell as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
