1    AN ACT concerning transportation.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Illinois Highway Code is amended by changing
5Section 7-301 as follows:
 
6    (605 ILCS 5/7-301)  (from Ch. 121, par. 7-301)
7    Sec. 7-301.
8    In order to properly plan the utilization of motor fuel tax
9funds each municipality of over 5,000 population, but less than
101,000,000 population, shall be required to develop and update a
1120 year long-range highway transportation plan for a period not
12to exceed 20 years. The plan shall contain an estimate of
13revenues which will become available during that period and a
14statement of intention with respect to the construction,
15maintenance, and other related work to be done insofar as it is
16possible to make such estimates. In addition, the long-range
17plan shall show the location of existing municipal streets and
18the general corridors of future highways, the projected future
19traffic usage on each street for the duration of the plan a 20
20year period, a tabulation showing the design standards and the
21geometric features associated with different levels of traffic
22usage, and a listing of the major improvements anticipated with
23the within 5 years of the date of each plan. A copy of the plan

1shall be made publicly available filed with the County
2Superintendent of Highways in the county or counties in which
3the municipality is located and with the Secretary of the
4Department of Transportation. The initial plan shall be on file
5with the designated agencies by July 1, 1971 and shall be
6updated and made publicly available on an annual basis
7thereafter.
